Watch for signs appearing in front yards recognizing property owners who do a little extra on their property. Whether it's painting their fence, keeping their yard tidy, replacing shingles or ??? Volunteers will be walking the neighbourhood looking for those properties. A sign will be placed on the property recognizing the good work. As well, the owner can claim a prize that will help them keep up the good work.

You can also nominate someone by calling Cheryl at 780 442 1652.

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) provided us with the following information. Please watch out for your neighbours and keep Queen Mary Park safe (see tips below).

Multiple break & enters in your community

There were five break and enters in the communities of Prince Rupert and Queen Mary Park yesterday, Wednesday, Jan.2.

They all occurred in the afternoon, with three having a similar suspect description.

The suspect was described as an Aboriginal male, over 6’0” tall and average build, in his mid-20s, with medium length shaggy hair. He was wearing dark jeans, a jacket or hoodie with horizontal stripes, a black ball cap, and a chain hanging from his pants to his back pocket.

Keep an eye on your neighbourhood and talk to your neighbours. If you see any suspicious activity, call 780-423-4567 or #377 from your mobile phone. If you see a crime in progress, call 911.

Here are some tips to help prevent these types of crime:

    • Install deadbolt locks on your home or garage doors for added security.
    • On basement windows, install security bars with a quick release mechanism in case of a fire.
    • Keep valuables hidden away, even inside your home.
    • Keep all doors and windows closed and locked.
    • Close home and garage window coverings to prevent thieves from looking inside for items to steal.
    • Trim trees and bushes, specifically around windows and doors.

We just can't help ourselves...we keep giving away FREE memberships with all their many perks. Why? Because we want more people to get active and involved in our community, and we don't think the price of membership should get in the way of that!

Visit us at an upcoming event to get a free membership:

    • Parks Planning Public Consultations (2 dates - see events listing for more info!)
    • Christmas Party December 8 (details to follow soon)
